Patient Account Representative (Remote) - Healthcare Revenue Cycle Support

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM (varies by team)
Common shifts: 7:30 AM-4:00 PM or 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; One night/ week until 7pm
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Range: $18.00-$21.25/hour
Location: Remote / Work From Home


About the Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to support a healthcare revenue cycle team by assisting patients with their self-pay medical balances. This role is ideal for professionals with strong customer service, call center, or healthcare administration experience who enjoy helping patients navigate billing and payment options.

This is a remote, phone-based position requiring excellent communication, professionalism, and a patient-first mindset.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct outbound calls to patients regarding outstanding self-pay medical balances
  • Handle inbound calls and provide high-quality patient support
  • Review accounts and offer financial assistance options when appropriate
  • Establish and maintain payment plans following guidelines
  • Research and respond to billing inquiries and statement questions
  • Gather and relay information to healthcare facilities for review
  • Shadow teammates to maintain up-to-date knowledge and accuracy
  • Review accounts for delinquency and issue final notices when needed
  • Follow all SOPs, compliance requirements, and client-specific guidelines

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Healthcare customer service or medical billing experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret business documents and basic regulations
  • Comfortable with basic math: percentages, discounts, interest calculations
  • Problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
  • Moderate computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, data entry)
  • Must pass a favorable background check
